Stephen is our wordsmith, assessment specialist and certified Francophile.
A Senior Associate at One Environments, Stephen joined the team in 2013, bolstering our collective expertise with over 30 years’ experience as a Chartered Landscape Architect (CMLI). He has a Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture and a BA (Hons) in Landscape Design from Manchester Polytechnic.
His portfolio comprises a wide range of projects from across the UK and overseas, with specialties including major design projects, landscape planning, LVIA/TVIA and presenting evidence at Public Inquiry. Project work encompasses urban regeneration, infrastructure and residential developments, and includes the leisure and tourism, education and renewables sectors.
Stephen’s background in quality management manifests in his attention to detail, which is prevalent in his landscape and visual assessments for wind turbines and residential developments. This high level of accuracy has seen him act as expert witness at Public Inquiries and prepare extensive written representations.
Commercially astute, Stephen’s business acumen and marketing brain are tuned in to explore relevant opportunities, helping to underpin the growth and diversification of the practice.
Stephen has vast experience of upscaling a business, stemming from his directorship at Anthony Walker and Partners (AWP) from 2004 to 2013, during which time he oversaw the growth and development of the practice from its main office in Newcastle, opening a regional branch in Manchester and an overseas office in Shenzhen to service work in China.
Enjoying a hop across the channel, Stephen is a certified Francophile. He especially likes the Dordorgne region, but has enjoys visiting any area where landscape, food and history create the perfect getaway.
Stephen has also recently taken up painting again, enjoying the mindfulness the canvas and colours bring.
