landscape proposals

One Environments were invited by DAY Architectural to support them in their winning competitive tender for the redevelopment of the former Valley Centre in Rawtenstall, Rossendale. Provisionally named ‘Spinning Point’, the project proposes the partial redevelopment of Rawtenstall town centre, opening it up to form a new central hub with the potential for new office, commercial, mixed use and residential facilities to complement the existing offering along Bank Street.

The public realm has been designed to not only reflect the numerous strands of Rawtenstall’s heritage but also look forward and create a feature rich environment which responds to the vision in developing an ‘adrenaline gateway’ to the surrounding Pennines. The civic heart utilises challenging levels to create a terraced setting which frames a generously proportioned events arena. Designed to host a diverse programme of adrenalin fuelled sports, competitions and demonstrations, the square will also host festive markets, performances and concerts to name but a few.
