landscape proposals

One Environments supported Faulkner Brown Architects in their bid for the redevelopment of the University of Nottingham’s Sports Centre, strategically located adjacent to the swimming pool hall within their campus grounds. The landscape strategy has been an integral component of the design philosophy and optimises the site for development whilst retaining a significant proportion of existing open space. Centered upon a large central plaza, the proposals create a legible, vibrant and sustainable setting for both the new and existing retained buildings with direct and clearly defined approaches from all existing transport routes in the vicinity.

The plaza features a series of 3-dimensional synthetic turf ribbons which span the length of the 100m plaza reminiscent of both running lanes and swimming lanes, rising and sculpturally looping to create interest and comfortable lounging areas for students and visitors alike.
